Laila Gozzi is an Italian cultural economist and performing artist who currently resides in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She has a Master's Degree in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship from ERASMUS University and a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from CODARTS University of the Arts, where she specialized in modern and contemporary dance. Laila works both as a performing artist on the theater's stages and as a researcher and data analyst within the art sector.
Concerning her work as a performing artist, she has been collaborating as a dancer with Kalpanarts since 2021.
Before this engagement, she cultivated a diverse repertoire in the performing arts. Notably, she has been part of various pieces by choreographer Ann Van den Broek, worked for the visionary American theatre director Robert Wilson, and embarked on a concert tour with the rock band dEUS. Laila has also contributed to other projects, such as a film production by Rauwkost and a dance piece by Malcolm Sutherland.
Her performative career started during her studies, where she danced in works of repertoire from Martha Graham, Jiří Kylián, Ton Simons, Juanjo Arques, and Kyle Abraham, among others.
Additionally, she trains using the GYROKINESIS® and GYROTONIC® method and is a certified GYROKINESIS® trainer.
Concerning her work as a researcher and data analyst, she is actively involved in publishing her empirical research: "The financial (in)dependence of non-profit dance companies in the Netherlands. An analysis of the predictive capacity of mission-embeddedness and earned income." Moreover, she worked in marketing and communication for SPRING Performing Arts Festival in Utrecht and as a data analyst for dance companies.
